The number of readers of Wikipedia worldwide reached 365 million at the end of 2009. The Pew Internet and American Life project found that one third of US Internet users consulted Wikipedia. In 2011 Business Insider gave Wikipedia a valuation of $4 billion if it ran advertisements.
But they use trade data from across markets to help set fair prices for where they’d be willing to buy or sell at any given point in time. And in the process of making markets and taking the other side of order flow, they accumulate inventory. There are two counterparties on either side of a futures contract – a long trader and a short trader.
